Rooftop Yoga in Minneapolis

Outdoor yoga is a one of the best things about Minneapolis summers. (Well, anything outdoor that is!)

When you are from Minneapolis (and survive the subzero winter temperatures,) you usually want to do all your activities outdoors in the summer months. The reason outdoor yoga is so amazing is that you slow down and actually take in all the sensations around you. You bring your attention inward and actually feel the breeze on your skin and the sunshine on your face, you hear the birds singing and the breeze moving through the trees.  And its pretty darn amazing to watch the clouds roll by when you flip your dog (down dog, that is).

Lululemon Athletica, as I have written about here before, organizes some amazing community yoga events throughout the entire year. But during the summer, they create one of the most fun classes – Rooftop Yoga at Brits Pub, cleverly titled “Bend it at Brits”.

Brits Pub has an outdoor lawn for lawn bowling games and tournaments, and four times during the summer they lend it over to Lulu to host a yoga class for 500+ students. It doesn’t feel that huge or intimidating when you are right there in the mix. They have a live DJ and a yoga instructor on the mic for a super fun yoga class. Its not your traditional class, so one should not take it seriously. Because, the teacher may have you twerk it in chair pose, or better yet, partner up for dancers pose.
